IMAGES AND MEDIA

At DVCS, we sometimes use photographs and videos to celebrate our community, share the positive impact of our work and raise awareness. When these images identify individuals, they are considered personal information, and we handle them with the same care and respect as all other information you provide.

HERE'S HOW WE APPROACH COLLECTING AND USING YOUR IMAGE:

  • Your Consent: Wherever possible and practical, we'll ask for your informed consent before taking or using your identifiable image in our publications. This includes our website, social media, newsletters, annual reports, and other promotional materials. We'll explain how your image might be used.

  • Your Choice to Opt-Out: We understand if you'd prefer not to be photographed or have your image published. If you're at a DVCS event where photos or videos might be taken, please tell a DVCS staff member or volunteer at the time if you don't wish to be included. We'll do our best to respect your request.

  • Withdrawing Consent: You can withdraw your consent for us to use your image at any time. If you'd like an identifiable image of you removed from our publications, please contact our Executive Officer (Privacy Officer) using the details below. We'll take all reasonable steps to remove it from future uses and from our online platforms where we have control. Please understand that it might not be possible to recall images already widely distributed (e.g., in printed materials already mailed out).

  • De-identified Images: Sometimes we use images where individuals aren't identifiable (e.g., blurred faces or general crowd shots). These are not considered personal information.

  • Children and Vulnerable Persons: We take extra care and require explicit consent from a parent or guardian before collecting or publishing images of children or other vulnerable individuals.
